The Carvé series is a range of Laguiole knives that feature a hand-carved bee and spring, which is usually a more expensive feature to find in such knives. Each knife in the series is crafted by the shop's most skilled and experienced cutler, ensuring that every piece is unique and reflects the artisan's work ethic.
This particular knife was made in the village of Laguiole and is equipped with a forged bee and forged in-house blade. The handle is adorned with the traditional Laguiole shepherd's cross on the left side.
The Forge de Laguiole workshop operates in the small village of Laguiole, France, which has a population of only 1300. The village is where the famous Laguiole knife first appeared in the early 1800s, and today, Forge de Laguiole is considered the leading brand in the Laguiole cutlery business. The company's reputation for quality, innovation, and ethical practices has made it the go-to luxury brand for Laguiole knives despite employing only 100 people.

You can recognize a forged bee when you look just below it, where it meets the decorated spring. If you do not see any gaps, it's a good sign that the bee and spring are forged from the same piece of metal. You can also recognize a soldered bee by noticing a straight gap/ridge where the bee meets the spring.
Many Laguiole pocket knives from most manufacturers, including Forge de Laguiole (7 cm knives), offer "soldered bees" models. Most Laguiole knives found on the market are solder bee models. Adding the bee to the spring by soldering saves time and money; this is why the cost of soldered bee knives can be substantially less. The original Laguiole knives had forged bees.

The knife is extremely well made. The weight & shape of it fits nicely in your hand. The quality is excellent. I chose the olivewood handle for the richness and beauty of the grain. This is definitely one of the most beautiful pocket knifes that I've seen.
