Overview

Handmade in Laguiole, France, the Forge de Laguiole corkscrews, often called the "Sommeliers," are the only high-end waiter-style corkscrews to feature the traditional shepherd's cross on most models (check photos).

Forge de Laguiole created this wine opener in collaboration with professional sommeliers in France and worldwide. Its ergonomics, elegance, and efficiency earned it the "Prix Design Plus" (the Design Plus award) in Frankfurt, Germany. Additionally, each of these incredibly efficient masterpieces is entirely hand-assembled and completed by the same craftsman to ensure pride in the finished object.

The Forge de Laguiole workshop is located in the tiny village of Laguiole, France - Pop. 1300 - where the famous style of knife first appeared in the early 1800s.

Today, Forge de Laguiole represents the pinnacle of quality in the Laguiole cutlery business. Their reputation for integrity, ethics, and innovative designs has made this small 100 employees company the "Must Have" Laguiole luxury brand.

Handle Material

Snakewood aka Amourette (Brosimum guianense) is a gorgeous wood that originates mostly from Brazil's Suriname valley.
The part sold as snakewood is really the heartwood of the much larger tree. This wood is usually felled with axes and carried on the backs of natives over streams and through jungle areas.
Each tree felled is monitored, the Brazilian government has developed a strict permit process to control harvesting. The name was inspired by the snakeskin-like markings that decorate this exotic wood.
Initially deep red in color, snakewood changes color upon being exposed to air, making the wood eventually turn reddish-brown, as you see it today.

Forge de Laguiole items purchased overseas or from an unauthorized retail channel will need to be shipped to France and back to the U.S. at the owner's expanse. The original retail channel will need to be contacted for assistance.

Forge de Laguiole corkscrews are made of Martensitic stainless steel. It is important to note that high grade (and cost) martensitic stainless steel is used due to its hardness, strength, and wear resistance qualities.

The foil cutter is non-serrated to achieve a clean cut and provide ease of sharpening. The blade also doubles as a bottle cap opener.

Care

How to Maintain Your Pocket Knife

Pocket Knives are designed for cutting only. Do not use it as a screwdriver, crowbar, wood chisel, as this can cause irreversible damage and void the warranty.

Lubricate Moving Parts: Periodically apply a few drops of lubricant to all moving parts. This ensures smooth operation and extends the life of your knife.
Hand Wash Only: Always hand wash your pocket knife. After washing, dry it quickly with a soft towel to prevent rust and corrosion.
Recommended Lubricant: We highly recommend using Sentry-Solutions Tuf Glide for all our folding knives. It provides excellent lubrication and protection.

Important Note: Tuf Glide is not considered a "food-safe" product. Avoid using it on knives that come into contact with food.
