Does the Lock-Top feel "in the way" when using the knife?
No, quite the contrary, here is why. The lock-top is slightly curved to feel secure when pressed by the thumb. Additionally, the filling decoration on each side provides additional grip.
What is the best technique to unlock the blade?
Although there are many ways to pull up the Lock-Top we found that simply sliding the thumbnail under the gap is the most efficient and safe way to unlock the blade.

The file work on the springs (top of handle) are individually hand filled by a French artisan, therefore all are different. Additionally, two handles made from the same material can have very different patterns.

Cattle Bone (Bovine, France). Note that it is not unusual to find areas of different shades of beige or/and small streaks of darker colors within the bone. These features only contribute to the uniqueness of such material.
