Nearly all of the rare and old specimen trees of the castle were uprooted during the terrible storm of December 26, 1999, most of those trees were imported from around the world to the Chateau de Versailles during the 18th century as part of the 1776 centurial gardens renovation ordered by Louis XVI. I purchased the Versailles series wine opener as a gift for my husband. This beautiful piece feels incredible in your hand and makes the process of opening up a bottle of wine joyful. It is a piece of art with a glorious story- repurposing 223 year old wood from Versailles to our home. Priceless.
Makes me want to drink more wine! Conversation piece.
Very happy with this, it is my second one in the Versailles series. This one is a gift and will certainly order another.
Bought this for a dear friend as a housewarming gift and she loves it! A great, functional heirloom piece. (Bought one for myself too!)
