Alto Braco 12 cm Brut de Forge Pocket Knife - Limited Edition

Free 2 Two-Day Delivery

This model is limited to 250 units worldwide.

The handle of this limited edition folding knife is made from an Oak beam recovered during the renovation of a centuries-old "Buron" (a Shepherd's Hut) located on the Aubrac's high plateau in Aveyron, France. It is believed that such structures (usually impossible to date) can easily be over 200 years old, making the actual oak used during the original construction at least 3 to 4 hundred years old.

"Alto Braco" is the original name in Occitan of the Aubrac National Park and translates to "High-Plateau".

What is a One Piece Forged Bee & Spring?
When a bee is an integral part of the forged spring, it is called a "Forged Bee"; the bee was not added afterward.
Many Laguiole pocket knives from most manufacturers, including Forge de Laguiole (i.e., 7 cm knives), offer "soldered bees" models. The process of adding the bee to the spring by soldering saves time and money; this is why the cost of soldered bee Laguiole knives can be substantially less. The original Laguiole knives had forged bees.

How do I recognize a Forged Bee & Spring?
You can recognize a forged bee when you look just below it, where it meets the decorated spring. If you do not see any gaps, it's a good sign that the bee and spring were forged from the same piece of metal. You can also recognize a soldered bee by noticing a straight gap/ridge where the bee meets the spring.
