Le Saint-Bernard Pocket Knife - Damascus Blade Deer Stag - B

Named after the Great St Bernard Hospice, a traveler’s hospice on the often treacherous St. Bernard Pass in the Alps located between Switzerland and Italy. The pass, the lodge, and the dogs are named after Bernard of Menthon, the monk who established the station 1000 years ago.

Saint Bernard was originally bred as a working dog and later rescued people lost in the snow. They carried a mythical small barrel of brandy around their neck to revive frozen mountaineers. Napoleon's soldiers' chronicles tell how many lives were saved by the Saint-Bernard. Their heroic behavior gave birth to the motto "Nobility, dedication, sacrifice." This motto inspires the St. Bernard knife. The enduring strength, humble beginnings, and unfailing craftsmanship are a tribute to the name.

Consider this: This knife was handmade in Europe's capital of cutlery, "Thiers." The “Gilles®” Fontenille Pataud collection of knives are considered by many to be some of the best pocket knives money can buy. All Knives offered by Gilles are entirely made by a single craftsman, ensuring pride of ownership of the final piece. This knife is 100% Made in France.

Shopping for a unique pocket knife not only holds the promise of ownership but the excitement of finally beholding an item admired through a screen. However, all too often, what was envisioned and what is unboxed bear a startling, sometimes painful discrepancy.

How to Maintain Your Pocket Knife

Pocket Knives are designed for cutting only. Do not use it as a screwdriver, crowbar, wood chisel, as this can cause irreversible damage and void the warranty.

To keep your pocket knife in top condition, follow these maintenance tips:

  1. Lubricate Moving Parts: Periodically apply a few drops of lubricant to all moving parts. This ensures smooth operation and extends the life of your knife.
  2. Hand Wash Only: Always hand wash your pocket knife. After washing, dry it quickly with a soft towel to prevent rust and corrosion.
  3. Recommended Lubricant: We highly recommend using Sentry-Solutions Tuf Glide for all our folding knives. It provides excellent lubrication and protection.

Important Note: Tuf Glide is not considered a "food-safe" product. Avoid using it on knives that come into contact with food.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your pocket knife remains reliable and ready for your next adventure.
